These are some of the projects supported through your financial contributions to Iowa Audubon.

  • Provide CD of management guidelines to IBA land managers
  • 2007 - Partnered with Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation to acquire and protect the last wild 96-acre (3/4 mi.) shoreline on Angler’s Bay at Big Spirit Lake, Dickinson County
  • 2008 - Co-sponsored four state Upper Mississippi River Audubon conference in Dubuque
  • 2008 - Supported Pico Bonito National Park project in Honduras through the Avian Conservation Alliance of the Americas (ACAA) and Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation.  Project will protect neotropical bird habitat and help establish ecotourism opportunities for local Honduran residents.
  • 2009 - Supported Iowa DNR Forestry Bureau Forestry Legacy Project funding in the Loess Hills of Harrison County. Project received grant to protect and manage forestlands at Boy Scouts of America camp near Preparation Canyon and Loess Hills State Forest.
  • 2009 - Partner donation to help Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation acquire and protect 200 acres of forest and ¼ mi. riverfront at Boone Forks WMA.
  • 2009 - Provided grant funds to assist Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center in Woodbury County construct “Bird Board” as part of major Center renovation project.
  • 2009 - Co-sponsored publication of the new Makoke Birding Trail Guide for central Iowa.
  • 2012-2016 - Supported the American Bird Conservancy's intiative at El Tokio grasslands in northern Mexico where many Iowa species winter.
  • 2014 - Asssited Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation & Iowa DNR in acquiring a 396-acre addition to Yellow River State Forest, part of Iowa's first Globally Important Bird Areas.
  • 2015 - Assisted Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation with funding debt reduction and increasing management activities at the Iandiangrass Hills IBA in Iowa County.
  • 2016 - Provided 50-50 matching funds to Iowa DNR for acquisition of a 75-acre addition to state-owned public lands within the Iowa River Corridor IBA.
  • 2016 - Provided funds to assist the U.S Fish & Wildlife Service in improved management of federally-owned public lands within the Iowa River Corridor IBA.
